HOW THE WEST WAS ONE

The nostalgia and bittersweet-ness of a first birthday always gets me. The first year as a Mama (and baby) are filled with so many firsts; walking, talking, eating, transitioning through the “baby stages” like champs. And then suddenly, it’s their first birthday, where you’re filled with so much joy, but also so much reminiscing. Your baby isn’t quite a baby anymore, but isn’t quite a toddler, yet they’ve accomplished SO much in that short time (sometimes, more than us adults!) and it goes by in the literal, blink of an eye. (Can you tell I’m out of the true baby stage with my own littles ☹?) So, we say, there’s no better reason for a celebration! Giovanna with Olive & Grace always knows how to celebrate her tiny humans in style and Austin’s first birthday was fit for a fair king himself. And how else do you celebrate a sweet boy named Austin than with a Texas/western state fair themed party? This is: HOW THE WEST WAS ONE …

Anytime we hear the words “western”, “state fair” and “Texas”, it’s an absolute yes. Throw in tractors, an actual Farris wheel, tumbleweeds and a windmill and we’re officially moving in, no questions asked.

We fitted our square harvest tables with lower legs to add to our “meadow” table collection and it was truly the perfect shape and color for the theme and it fit perfectly under our Trapper pergola.

When you’re thinking about florals for a boys birthday, it can be a little tough. Do you go all greenery or keep it uber neutral, because, boys. We say, throw that color and texture in! Flowers don’t just come in pink, picker chicks!
